This man is wanted for failure to pay child support.
Quincy Jones, 42, is wanted for failing to pay more than $41,000 in child support, according to a sheriff's office press release. Jones has three outstanding warrants. The class will teach boys how to defend themselves against an aggressor.
A free self-defense class for boys ages 8 to 14 will be held at the Polo Road recreation center on Feb. 23 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. You must pre-register for the course at 803.446.8605. A group of masked gunmen walked into a Northeast Columbia bank Friday morning.
Update 7 p.m. Three men are in custody and one is dead after allegedly robbing a bank this morning with machine guns. Naim Strosman, Rashad Hall and Ozzie Carreker were arrested after fleeing the scene in a car. Two of the men were found walking down the interstate, Sheriff Leon Lott said in a press conference. This could be in connection to two earlier armed robberies at area Zaxby's.
For the third time in less than a month, a man pretended to place an order at an area Zaxby's before presenting a handgun and stealing money from the cash register, a sheriff's office press release stated. This time it was the restaurant on Sams Crossing Drive. Around 8 p.m. on Wednesday, a suspect was caught on surveillance attempting the same order-then-rob scheme at Zaxby's. The suspect is a black male wearing dark pants and a dark hoodie with a white t-shirt. He left in an older black Honda. It is unclear if the same man committed all three armed robberies. The sheriff's office advises anyone wanted for failure to pay child support to turn themselves into the warrant division.
During a legal traffic stop, Ronald Nelson Bonnett was arrested and charged with failure to pay child support, and three counts of fraudulent checks. After pulling the car over at Fairfield and Buckner Roads, deputies learned that Bonnett, a passenger in the car, was wanted for failure to pay child support and writing fraudulent checks, a sheriff's office press release stated.
A Northeast Columbia woman was shot and killed Monday morning.
Tacora Thomas, the woman slain in her home Monday morning, reported being threatened by her husband, Dexter Lee Boulware, just hours before he allegedly shot and killed her, The State reports. Around 10:30 Monday morning, sheriff's deputies responded to a shots fired call at 200 Thornfield Road, where Thomas had been shot multiple times in the upper body, according to a sheriff's office press release. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead. Thomas had returned to her house with her mother when Boulware allegedly assaulted her. Boulware then fled to the nearby home of a relative. Boulware was out on bond from another arrest at the time of the shooting.
