The Richland County Solid Waste and Recycling made a new list of items that could be recycled.
According to a Richland County Facebook post, the following items are now recyclable in Richland County: However, you still can't recycle Styrofoam in any form.

Free doses of the drug are available for those living within a 10-mile radius of a nuclear plant.
Those living near a nuclear power plant can get free doses of potassium iodide at the Richland County Health Department, WLTX reports. Find the full list of distribution sites here. Potassium idodide will protect residents' thyroid gland from radiation. Read more HERE.

Richland County's Electronic Recycling event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Heathwood Hall Episcopal School, 3000 S. Beltline Blvd., Columbia. April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, and to celebrate, Richland County is putting pinwheels up around the county as part of Pinwheels for Prevention, a fundraising and community awareness program. Police are looking for a man who they say abducted a woman Tuesday.
More than 250 fewer violent crimes were reported in 2011 compared to 2010.
South Carolina saw a 21 percent jump in murders and a 7 percent increase in rapes in 2011, bucking a downward trend of the past generation. Richland County had 25 murders, 189 rapes and 2,564 aggravated assaults. In 2010, 27 murders were reported in Richland County. The other two violent crime categories tracked by state officials, and released Monday for the 2011 calendar year — aggravated assaults and robberies — fell from 2010 to 2011. In total, violent crimes across the state fell slightly, according to the report, "Crime in South Carolina 2011," produced annually by the State Law Enforcement Division and the S.C. The expansion of Constantia Hueck Foils is expected to bring 15 new jobs to the county.
Constantia Hueck Foils LLC, an Austria-based manufacturer of foil- and film-based packaging, will expand its current production facility in Richland County, bringing 15 new jobs. The company will add 15,000 square feet and additional equipment to its Northpoint production facility at 1111 Northpoint Boulevard in Blythewood — a $12 million investment. A local contractor has been selected, and construction of the facility addition is expected to begin in April and be completed by October. The company will begin the hiring process for the new positions later this summer.
