Howard Berman also gets support from John McCain and Joe Lieberman.
South Carolina’s senior Republican, Sen. Lindsey Graham, has endorsed Democrat Howard Berman in Berman’s California House race. Berman is locked in a tight contest to represent the Golden State’s 30th District with fellow House member and Democrat Brad Sherman. As a result of re-districting, the two Democrats were forced into a run-off by a California election law that requires the two top finishers in a primary to advance to the general election, irrespective of party.* The race in suburban Los Angeles is expected to be close and the endorsement from Graham could make the difference for Berman, who also received endorsements on Monday from Sens. John McCain (R – Arizona) and Joseph Lieberman (I – Connecticut). Follow all South Carolina …

She'll join two other high-profile female leaders and two former Romney rivals.
Multiple media outlets are reporting that Gov. Nikki Haley will speak at the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa later this month. The news was first reported by the Tampa Bay Times on Sunday evening. Haley is joined on the speaking roster by two other leading women in the Republican Party, New Mexico Gov. In first post-Iowa appearance here, presidential hopeful dodges the crowd and Occupy protestors.
CHARLESTON – Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney wanted to deliver his standard stump speech without any problems in his first South Carolina appearance since squeaking out a win in Tuesday’s Iowa Caucuses. So on the heels of awkward question-and-answer sessions elsewhere, the Romney campaign made sure everything was perfect, unlike Romney's first appearance in New Hampshire Wednesday. That featured a string of hostile questions from the audience, including one Occupy protester. Minutes before taking the stage Thursday with Sen. John McCain and Gov. Nikki Haley, event organizers removed a dozen or so Occupy Charleston protesters from the crowd. Police and Romney organizers said while the event was held outdoors at a state historic site, the …

Mitt Romney will be in Charleston this afternoon, showing off his new endorsement: U.S. senator and 2008 rival John McCain (R-Ariz.). He'll also be joined by Gov. Nikki Haley, who will be following Romney back up to New Hampshire this weekend. The event will be at 3:45 p.m. at the Charles Towne Landing Historic Site's Founder's Hall, 1500 Old Towne Road, Charleston. Former Utah Gov. Once a key primary issue, candidates now avoid discussing the flag
The Confederate flag flying on South Carolina Statehouse grounds has proved a divisive issue in past presidential primaries, with some White House hopefuls supporting it and others suggesting it should be taken down. But with three weeks left until the 2012 primary, it’s clear that the candidates are determined not to let the debate over taking down the flag take down their campaigns. Unlike previous campaigns in 1996 and 2000, when Republican presidential hopefuls including John McCain saw their hopes in South Carolina dashed because of strong stances against the flag, candidates have largely avoided the issue this year. While other states’ rights issues — such as Boeing’s clash with the National Labor Relations Board in Charleston and …
