Spring Valley's Morgan Barker to Play at Columbia College

Barker, a pitcher, will play for the Fighting Koalas.

Blythewood Stays Alive, Will Face Lexington Friday for State Title

The Bengals take Game Two, 7-2.

Update: Blythewood remained alive Wednesday night, downing Lexington 7-2 at home to force a third and deciding game in the AAAA state baseball championship series. The Wildcats and Bengals will face off Friday at Carolina Stadium at 7 for the state title. After taking an early 2-1 lead over Blythewood, Lexington was unable to get anything going on offense and the Bengals bats came alive. Blythewood Hosts Lexington in Game 2 of State Championship Series

The game starts at 7 p.m.

Blythewood High School baseball team will host the Lexington Wildcats in game two of the Class 4A state championship series Wednesday night.  The Wildcats beat the Bengals, 5-2, in the first game of the best-of-three series. This is the first state championship appearance for the Bengals (26-6) and the 12th for the Wildcats.  The game starts at 7 p.m. Patch will have a live blog of tonight's game posted here. Lexington Defeats Blythewood in Open State Title Series

Monday's game is the first in a best-of-three series.

Update, 10 p.m.: The Lexington Wildcats defeated the Blythewood Bengals 5-2 in the first game of the Class 4A baseball state championship series. Blythewood Heads into State Championship Game

Lexington hosts the first game of the AAAA state championship.

The Blythewood Bengals and Lexington Wildcats will play for the state championship tonight at 7 p.m. at Lexington.  Patch will be in the stands for full coverage. The game will be live streamed HERE.  On April 15, the last matchup between the two teams, Lexington won over Blythewood, 12-9.  However, Blythewood pitchers have not allowed a run over the last 22 innings, according to a press release. This is the first state championship appearance for Blythewood and the 12th for Lexington. 

SVHS Runners Break State Record

Congrats to the boys 4x800-meter relay team!

The Spring Valley High School boys 4x800-meter relay team broke the state record with a time 7 minutes, 45 seconds. The previous record was held by Lexington with a time of 7 minutes, 48 seconds. Blythewood Baseball On To First State Championship

The Bengals topped Wade Hampton, 6-0.

The Blythewood Bengals are headed to their first state championship after beating Wade Hampton 6-0 in the semifinals Friday night, according to their Twitter account.  Blythewood will take on Lexington High School for the 4A championship on Monday.  Read coverage of earlier games HERE or upload photos from the game to this gallery.   

Spring Valley Falls to Dorman in Tennis Semifinals

The Vikings put up a good fight but fell in the end.

The boys tennis season came to an end for the Spring Valley Vikings when they fell to the Dorman Cavaliers, 4-2 on Thursday.  Dorman will move on to play South Aiken in the state championship on Saturday. The game is set for tonight at 5 p.m. at the Blythewood stadium. Be sure to upload your photos of the game to this gallery. We'll also have a live blog running at 5 p.m. for full coverage of the game.

With the season winding down, the Blythewood Bengals are getting ready to take on the Wade Hampton Generals tonight at 5:30 for the state semifinal playoffs.  The two played Wednesday with the Bengals topping the Generals, 10-0.  The day before, the game was postponed due to heavy rains.  On Thursday, Wade Hampton beat Dorman. Also according to the Bengals Twitter feed, this is the first time an Upper State championship game has been held in Blythewood.  Uploading is simple: Go to the photo gallery, hit the upload button and add your photos. We'd love to see the great shots you got from the game.  Patch is also running a live blog of the game beginning at 5 p.m.
