Spivey Hall Children's Choir to Tour Columbia and Lowcountry

Acclaimed group from Atlanta area sets June dates in South Carolina.

From Spivey Hall Children's Choir: The Spivey Hall Children’s Choir will be performing concerts in Columbia and Charleston, South Carolina during its 2013 Summer Tour. In Columbia, Dr. Martha Shaw will conduct the internationally recognized choral group in a joint workshop/performance with The Young Sandlapper Singers at St. Michael and All the Angels Episcopal Church. In Charleston, the singers will perform at four senior community centers, as well as during the prestigious Spoleto USA festival as part of the Piccolo Spoleto program. Willie Nelson Among Headliners at 2013 Southern Ground Festival

Zac Brown Band's Southern Ground Music and Food Festival returns for a third year.

Willie Nelson will be among the headliners when Zac Brown Band's Southern Ground Music and Food Festival returns for a third year to Charleston on Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20. Returning to Blackbaud Stadium on Daniel Island, the festival will feature sets by Nelson, Band of Horses, The Head and the Heart, Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, Dawes, and Kacey Musgraves, among additional names to be announced soon. Continuing the festival's annual tradition - which the band kicked off last year with iconic artists such as Gregg Allman and John Mayer - ZBB's "Super Sets" will close both nights with special sit-in performances also to be announced soon. 'The Boomers' Return to Sandhill

'The Boomers' performed at Bill Clinton's inauguration.

Come out to the Village at Sandhill for the Friday night free spring concert series, featuring pop and rock band “The Boomers” from 7 to 9 p.m. in Town Center Common.  Free rides and balloon art from Nick Propst begin at 6pm.  The song selections, and consistent quality of their live performance, make this group a guaranteed success, a press release stated.

The moms and daughters who signed up to blog on Patch for free Disney on Ice tickets got a huge surprise on Thursday night.

Blythewood Chefs Take Third

The culinary arts team competed in Charleston.

Blythewood High School's culinary arts team recently placed third in the state in at the 2013 ProStart Cooking Competition. Members include: James Williams, Michael Young, Ikea Woodall, David Litchford and Taylor Russell Members were awarded scholarship monies from Johnson & Wales University, LeCordon Bleu, The Art Institute of Charleston, The New England Culinary Institute, The Indiana Culinary Institute of Pennsylvania, and more.
