USC catcher Grayson Greiner, who starred at Blythewood High, was named to the 2012 Louisville Slugger Freshmen All-American team on Wednesday by Collegiate Baseball.

Fellow Gamecock and former Sumter High School ace, pitcher Jordan Montgomery, was also selected to the team.

Greiner, a SEC All-Freshman selection, has played in 55 games with 48 starts and owns a .236 batting average (41-for-174) with six homers and 31 RBI and has been impeccable behind the plate, throwing out 17 runners attempting to steal.

Montgomery, named to the NCAA Regional All-Tournament Team this past weekend, owns a 5-1 record with a 4.05 ERA with 51 strikeouts and just nine walks in 66.2 innings pitched.

Greiner missed the Columbia Regional this past weekend after tearing the lateral meniscus in his left knee during a batting practice, but could be back behind the plate this coming weekend when the Gamecocks host a Super Regional opening round against Oklahoma.
