Two Men Charged With Armed Robbery, Attempted Murder
Deputies arrested the men Wednesday in the Dentsville area of Columbia.
Two men were arrested Wednesday and charged in connection with the armed robbery and attempted murder of a tow truck driver.
Richland County Sheriff's deputies arrested Antoine Demetrius Caughman, 25, and Reco Maurice Bell, 24, Wednesday in the 400 block of Redwood Court.
Deputies say the car the two men were driving was illegally parked at Crush Gentlemen's Club on River Drive early Wednesday morning. Managment at the club called for a tow truck to remove the vehicle around 4:30 a.m.
When the tow truck arrived, the two men asked the driver for a ride to the compound to get their vehicle back, deputies say. Once they arrived at the compound on Ellerbee Street, the two men pulled a semi-automatic handgun on the driver and demanded money, deputies say.
They fired shots at the driver as he ran away, and fired more shots at him as they drove away in their vehicle that had been towed, deputies say.
Deputies said they were able to locate the two men through vehicle identification.
Caughman and Bell were transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on charges of armed robbery and attempted murder.
