Did DeMint Endorse Romney? Mitt Thinks So
Comments from the S.C. senator on Capitol Hill last week have become part of Mitt Romney's campaign push.

Despite winning Louisiana over the weekend, the uprising candidacy of former Sen. Rick Santorum is losing ground, as conservative leaders across the country appear to be pushing the GOP toward solidarity.
With the campaigns of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich and Rep. Ron Paul merely afterthoughts at this point, all signs are pointing to former Gov. Mitt Romney sailing to the nomination.
A big push came from former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who endorsed Romney last week, ending speculation of a last-second bid.
But it was the support of S.C. Sen. Jim DeMint that drew attention in the Palmetto State.
Speaking Thursday on Capitol Hill, following a meeting with Romney, DeMint said the other candidates need to rethink their campaigns.
But was the thinly veiled suggestion to drop out of the race an endorsement for DeMint, who supported Romney in 2008 but pledged to stay out of the endorsement process in 2012?
Romney's camp appears to think so.
In a Friday morning email blast from Romney headquarters, the DeMint comments were put alongside those of Bush in suggesting that Romney was inevitable, and it was time for conservatives to get in line.

Mitt Romney must feel like a groom whose bride, when asked by the minister if she "will have this man to be your wedded husband...and keep thee only until him," hesitates, looks out at the congregation one last time to see if there might possibly be a better option, and finally, in voice subdued and halting, answers, "Well, okay."
Jeb Bush--and what is it about him (other than the rapidly increasing size of his jowls) that makes him so interesting to Republicans?--looked around as long as he could and only offered his tepid endorsement of Mr. Romney when it became clear that there were going to be no other real options and, well, the congregation was getting restless.
Jim DeMint--and what is it, other than needlessly delay the Charleston Harbor dredging project, that he has done for South Carolina lately?--suggests that perhaps the "other candidates need to rethink their campaigns" and Mr. Romney, ever the delusional groom, tries to spin "Well, maybe I need to take this lemon and make lemonade out of him" into an enthusiastic "I will! I will! I will!"
Poor Mitt! It's not just that those he courts don't love him. They don't even like him.

LOL! Excellent stuff there, uh, Brent! I can tell that you gave a great deal of thought to your articulate and reasoned response to my opinion. I mean, only, uh, "rust between [my] ears" could possibly explain why I would say that the enthusiasm for Mr. Romney among the GOP elite is, well, less than tepid. Of course, now you'll have to come up with an explanation as to why the rest of the thinking world has pretty much that same take on that as I do. :(

How do you properly respond to such unmitigated BS. I guess my questions to you is why has every republican who is a somebody in the party, from one end of the spectrum to the other come out in support of Romney, they were not coming out of the woods to endorse Santorum. The internet is full of articles of intelligent, level thinking people who are singing praises to Romney. Expand your study/reading my friend. I have seen the cold thumbs up too, However, they are in the minority and are typically tied to the Mormon question, and they frankly just need to get over it, for it has no relevance.

most political rhetoric (GOP/DEM) is "unmitigated BS"...however in this case it's all irreverent...in 2012, it's BO in a landslide...it's 1964 all over again...ie;
"Johnson won 61.1% of the popular vote, the highest won by a candidate since 1820."...BO may top this...especially if mitt keeps alienating latinos and women...there are not enough racist and misogynists to get mitt elected.
mitt's attempt to get foot out of mouth is failing...mitt is just not part of the 99%...he is a dyed in the wool 1%-er...nice man but not someone i would enjoy a beer with...or want to see as our president.
