Bodies of Missing Teens Found Near River

After a two-week search, the bodies of Jake Ziegler and Ray Pierce have been found.

COLUMBIA, SC -- A post from the Facebook page dedicated to the search for the missing teens Jake Ziegler and Ray Pierce confirmed the worst Sunday night.

The bodies of both boys were recovered in Kershaw County near the Wateree River off of I-20, the post stated.

It appears to be a single car accident. Earlier in the search, officials were looking in the Blythewood area for the boys who disappeared from Catawba County, NC.

The post in its entirety follows:

We are sadden to say that the bodies of Jake Ziegler 18, & Ray Pierce have been found approximately an hour ago. Search crews along the Wateree River found the bumper of the car off of I20 East near the 96 mile marker. According to Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews, the bumper had the license plate from the car as well. It seems to be a single car accident. There is no proof that another vehicle was involved. There are no other details at this time and you all will be updated as soon as we can. We could not update you at that time due to not all the family had been contacted.

For everyone who wants to send prayers to the family, please send a private message on here and when Sue Ziegler has time she will view them. We just ask for everyone to please give them a little breathing room at this moment. Please continue to pray for them for this will be the hardest thing they will go through in their life and we want to thank all of you wonderful Prayer Warriors to help them along the way. Again, when we know more, we will let you know. Thank you & God Bless.

Sorry to be right about the water death.
The entire description had reminded me of multiple teenage deaths from autos in water.
Just so sad, so very sad.

Passed by the scene tonight on our way home from the beach. Such a sad ending, but at least the families now have an answer and can began the grieving process and have some closure. My prayers to them all... for God's peace and comfort during such a difficult time.

mark....You do know that people are trying to help the families involved in the tragedy with these two boys. Your comment was totally rude and uncalled for. Haven't you ever heard the saying, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."?

Both families are in our prayers. How sad. And, as far as Mark's comment, good job Mark! It is good to pray for and comfort the families but not lie to them is another story. Mark is right and I'm glad he said so. Again, we are praying for the Lord to comfort both families. So sorry for your loss.

My prayers are with both families. @ Mark and Jami....how do you know they didn't? Are you both experts on what happens to our souls, when the body dies? These families need comforting, not rude comments.

My prayers are with both families as I know how you feel. My heart is heavy right now for I feel your pain. I lost 3 family members in a single car accident on Christmas Eve last year we didn't find them until 3days later. Just know that God is still in control and there is no pain that he cant feel. Keep your hands in God's hand during this hard time I promise trusting God keeps you from losing it.
