Baddourah Wins Runoff Election for City Council District 3

Columbia restaurant owner will represent City Council District 3.

Moe Baddourah will be Columbia's new District 3 city councilman after winning Tuesday's runoff election.

With 96 percent of the precincts reporting, Baddourah won about 57 percent of the vote. His opponent, Daniel Coble, won about 43 percent of the vote.

Baddourah, owner of Moe's Grapevine restaurant, will replace Councilwoman Belinda Gergel, who decided not to run for re-election.

District 3 includes Five Points, Shandon, Rosewood, University Hill and part of the Hamptons neighborhoods.

Baddourah and Coble were the top vote-winners in the April 3 election, but neither one of them gained the 50 percent plus one majority to win, which led them to Tuesday's runoff.
