Four people in vehicles and one pedestrian died in motor vehicle accidents between Sept. 7 and Sept. 9, according to a Departement of Public Safety report.
As of Sunday, 540 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 570 highway deaths in this same time period in 2011, the release stated.

Of the 540, 34 were from Richland County
There have been 360 motor vehicle occupant deaths.
Of those 360, 216 were not wearing seatbelts.
66 of the deaths were pedestrians
78 were motorcyclists
12 were bicyclists
