4 Die on South Carolina Highways
After a deadly weekend on the highways, the total deaths for 2012 are five more than 2011.
As of Sunday at midnight, 471 people have died on South Carolina highways in 2012 compared to 466 highway deaths in this same time period in 2011, according to a South Carolina Department of Public Safety press release.
By the numbers:
- 313 motor vehicle occupants
- 191 of the motor vehicle occupants were not wearing seat belts.
- 58 pedestrians
- 67 motorcyclists
- 11 bicyclists have died on state roads and highways.
